Hi there! I'm Heather Canova, an Associate Creative Director at Rise and Run Health. To know me means you need to know where it all began. I always knew that a career that allowed me to be my wild self would be where I'd thrive. I wanted to go to The Fashion Institute of Technology because it was in NYC, and nothing screamed dance to the beat of your own drum more than that campus. I was "weird" in High School but at FIT, I wouldn't be the only one. Looking back, it was a gutsy move to only apply to one college. But when I know, I know.

Internships were required to graduate, and I wanted to explore and learn everything going to school in NY had to offer. I got to experience what it was like to work as an Art Director at Red Book Magazine and became an assistant to a well-known photographer, Richard Corman. The magazine taught me about design, storytelling, and working under tight timelines. Richard taught me about lighting, composition, communication with a team, and how to change a film canister in the dark in 20 seconds.

Upon graduation I partnered with a friend from school, and we marketed ourselves as a for-hire Art Director/Writing team bursting with ideas and enthusiasm. I learned a lot in those beginning years working at Lowe NY. I saw what it took to create big ideas for large clients like Got Milk, Purdue Chicken, GMC trucks, and Johnson & Johnson. During long hours, late nights, and wondering if I'm even good at this, I learned that the power of effort, resilience, and a positive attitude will take you a long way.

For the past 12 years I've worked with many teams to create ideas that I'm very proud of for our clients. I approach all situations with honesty, positivity, respect, and flexibility. I like to push myself to create unique, thought-provoking ideas and to never stop learning. I'm an inspiring leader with the ability to both mentor and manage. I have strong presentation skills and can clearly articulate with excitement and passion. I have a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Some fun facts. As a kid I traveled the US with my family in a 32' camper. I've dressed as a lobster and waved to people on the highway as my first job. Won a radio contest, helped win a Guinness World Record, and started a convention task force where I visited conventions around the country. After attending the 2016 Cannes Lion Health Festival, I left inspired to create work that makes an impact in our industry, for our clients, and the patients that deserve to have their voices heard.
